AVA – A CREATIVE PHILOSOPHY
welcome to the creative philosophy behind studio ava, here I share various topics that inspire my art, design, teaching and authentic expression

AVA is invisible, but she is present. she hides within the hearts of ideas, she is the witness of beauty, creating the breathtaking moments of awe. She is the driver of the subconscious, hiding in symbols, in stillness, in wisdom and all that doesn’t know time. She has always been there. some are able to sense her presence. In art, in music, in dreams, in nature in themselves whilst creating or when ‘in-spiration’. In the moments your spirit can finally breath. She is waiting to meet you, in the joy of your creativity and curiosity.

  • the power of yoga

Yoga has the power to open physical doors, for the soul to come home, and the mind to become still

VIRABHADRASANA III – WARRIOR III PRACTICE

Some say, that when you disappear in the things you do, it is a sign of connection to your purpose. And surprisingly so I found this experience in teaching yoga. Yoga has the power to open physical doors, for the soul to come home, and the mind to become still.

My personal yoga journey started 10 years ago, when I joined my first class when traveling in Bali alongside my dear friend Juliette. I remember this first encounter not to be the most serious one. We mostly enjoyed our youthful trip as one filled with many joyful and funny moments.

It happened later in life, alongside working my internship in Perth Australia, that I felt the motherly care of yoga as a practice for the first time. Taught by two wonderful caring women. One of my recent yoga teachers at ULU yoga said ‘just one yoga-class can change someone’s entire life’. And in retrospect I believe this to be absolutely true. As time went by I have felt gravitated towards yoga in several periods of my life, where I noticed it to help me shift my physical energy entirely. It is something totally different than other types of movement. I have sensed it to be connected to a deep knowledge, as if my body could tell me the truth of being.

Only last year, in a very pivotal moment in time, I decided to want to know more about the foundation of yoga, the philosophy and its forms and teachings. This has lead me to follow my yoga teacher training, once again, in Bali at ULU-yoga. My experience was nothing short of life-changing. I simply wanted to know and try, as with many things in life. But teaching, I cannot describe what it does to me, brings me beyond myself, into purpose and service. I am deeply grateful to be in the position to share this knowledge and ancient wisdom with the world through my yoga practice. It is a path of conviction and forever learning and to me it is a physical homecoming.

the origin of ava – a story about a white heron

” Suddenly she appears in sight.. the white heron, as if she has always been there, somewhere, posed gracefully among the whispering reets, mirroring the calmly resting waters, sealed in the morning hues, embraced and framed by the pine forest.

Statuesk, elegantly dressed in the most ethereal, neutrality.. there she stands in stillness, knowing that once she takes flight, she becomes one with the skies and all they represent, to bring back what she has learned from above, unseen.

I call her AVA, birdlike. She is always with me when I am called to create. She knows me and understands. I know that when I don’t see her, she is floating somewhere in the eternal sky, collecting all I need to know, to gift it to me.. Some day, maybe today, when I become still enough to notice.”
